1. anthrop-: human
ex. anthropomorphism-the representation of objects (especially a god) as having human form or traits
2. bene-: well, good
ex. benevolent-having or showing or arising from a desire to promote the welfare or happiness of others
3. male-/ mali-: bad
ex. malevolent-having or exerting a malignant influence
(exerting-put to use; malignant=malevolent有惡意的)
ex. malicious-wishing or appearing to wish evil to others
malicious gossip-壞話
ex. malignant-very serious and dangerous
malignant tumour-惡性腫瘤
ex. malign-causing or intended to cause harm
4. lyre-a musical instrument with strings that was used especially in ancient Greece; symbol of Apollo
5. ver-/ vir-: truth
ex. verification-the act or process of verifying; the state of being verified
( verifying, verified-to prove, show, find out, or state that (something) is true or correct)
ex. virtual-very close to being something without actually being it; existing or occurring on computers or on the Internet
virtual reality-an artificial world that consists of images and sounds created by a computer and that is affected by the actions of a person who is experiencing it
6. mor-: death
ex. morgue- a place where the bodies of dead people are kept until they are buried or cremated
ex. mortician-a person whose job is to prepare dead people to be buried and to arrange and manage funerals
ex. mortify-to subdue or deaden (as the body or bodily appetites) especially by abstinence or self-inflicted pain or discomfort
ex. immortal-not capable of dying; living forever
7. pre-: before
ex. predict- to say that (something) will or might happen in the future
ex. prefix- to add a letter, number, or symbol at the beginning of a word or number
ex. preface-a variable doxology beginning with the Sursum Corda and ending with the Sanctus in traditional eucharistic liturgies
8. dic-:to say, to tell words
ex. dictator-a person who rules a country with total authority and often in a cruel or brutal way
