1. hyperbole v.s. understatement

hyperbole: language that describes something as better or worse than it really is

understatement: to say that (something) is smaller, less important, etc., than it really is

2. connotation: an idea or quality that a word makes you think about in addition to its meaning

3. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers
